When people think of Gouda in combination with food and drink, one of the first things people mention is Gouda cheese and the cheese market that goes with it. The most famous regional product has been sold here every week since the Middle Ages. But also the delicious Dutch stroopwafels are made in the Gouda area. Gouda also has a special event where various restaurants create small dishes to introduce people to their delicious cuisine. This event is called Gouda Culinair and has been around for almost 10 years. Perhaps this also partly explains the high level of catering in Gouda. It was always celebrated in a park in downtown Gouda. This event takes place annually in September. Since 2013, the Gouda region has also gained a starred restaurant, namely Kaagjesland in Reeuwijk. This restaurant with both French and Dutch cuisine managed to get 1 Michelin star this year.
